Your 90 Day Marketing Plan…

by Angela Giles, PR and Social Media Manager

Do you have your Marketing Map for the next 90 days?   You may know your goals for the next 90 days.

But do you know how to achieve your goals?

Yesterday, Jane, my client asked me a simple but profound question “How do I achieve the goal that I have set for May 1, 2012.  My answer was simple.  Let’s put together a plan for the next 90 days.

You see Jane is a small business owner who needs to beef up her online presence and increase her profit margin.   She has dabbled in the social media playground with a Facebook Fan Page and even heard the terms:  Twitter, Youtube, and Press Releases.

Jane just did not know how to put it all together into a concise Marketing Plan.   She wasn’t even sure how marketing cycles and plans worked together to achieve maximum sales growth for her business.

The first thing that I explained to her was that marketing plans were similar to gardens.   Typically a gardener plants seeds and then over the next 90 days waters, fertilizes, and weeds them until they produce vegetation.

If you think about it most businesses operate like this.   They divide their business into marketing quarters, then at the end they measure and publish the results.

So what should your 90 Day Marketing Plan look like?

It is fairly simple.

Develop the marketing message that you will be sharing with prospective customers.   Be sure to incorporate the benefits and a strong call to action that will encourage your prospect to purchase your product or service from you.

Determine the different avenues of marketing that you wish to pursue.   These could include social media, press releases, traditional offline and online marketing techniques.

Your social media marketing arsenal should include some of the following outlets:

  • ·         Facebook Fan Pages
  • ·         Twitter
  • ·         Linkedin
  • ·         Youtube

Increase your exposure with a well written press release. .   A great way to start is to do a search in Google using your keyword and then find high traffic traditional media outlets and email a copy of your press release to their media contact.

Create a comprehensive marketing schedule.   You have probably heard me say this before in my  "90 Publicity and Social Media" course which every person should be reading if they do not have a current marketing plan…but it really needs to be said over and over.   A marketing plan is the key not throwing mud against the wall and hoping something sticks.

Implement your marketing schedule until it becomes routine.  Outsource it if need be.

Creating your message and implementing your marketing strategies and schedule is the formula for your 90 Marketing Plan.   Rinse and Repeat.   This is the key to creating a very profitable full time business!

Happy Marketing

Best Wishes,

Angela Giles

One question Angela: If I were to spend some time trying to fix my Facebook page to be useful for biz development, which apps would you recommend? My target audience is still getting used to Facebook, so I need ones which are super simple. Thanks

Diane, I would love to help you. But it would be best to know what your business is before I offer you my recommendations. I will send you a private email.
